This week’s video look at reasons NOT to get a green cheek conure.
Conures are becoming increasingly popular as pets and for many good reasons. However there are many downsides that anyone considering a green cheeked conure really need to be aware of.
I personally love them, but they aren’t for everyone!

My husband has a conure and a budgie in the same cage. The conure is everything you mentioned. It likes to make noise and chew…
And he’s not very friendly :/

They are VERY LOUD birds.
Even before watching the video I could guess what it was gonna say haha. I have 2 sweet green cheek conures, because I believe birds should always be kept in pairs. A human is incapable of offering 24/7 companion ship. You go to bed, eat, friends etc, so you're not always gonna be there there. Having a pair is therefore imo mandatory. My 2 boys are extremely bipolar. They do love me, I hand raised them and everytime theyre out they will literally not leave me alone. They cuddle me and play with me. They even try to copy my words. But sometimes they like to get nippy, in a playful matter, but they play rough. As well as they can get angry when they arent allowed something. They're also highly destructive and messy haha, they like to grab, drag, chew everything and make sure to poop on or in it. My favourite thing is to go to the shower with them, they love bathing in the shower. Haha. I love my boys, I give them 3 – 9 hours of attention everyday. When im not around they have a big cage they go in together full of toys.
I want to get one but the price for one is really expensive
I have 2 and i am fedup with there poop and noise they make also they bite so so hard
Got a 4months gcc 6 days ago. He was very aggressive until yesterday with a lot of effort and patience now he steps up takes food from my hand also i put him on my lap when i am sitting and he plays on me. He is like a little puppy!!! I’m in love with this little lunatic!
I've got Cockatiels, Budgies, Bourkes, Rainbow Lorikeets, and a Green Cheeked Conure. The messiest and loudest by far are the Lorikeets. The Green Cheeked is nippy, loving, clever, food possessive and territorial over her cage. She's a different bird out of her cage.
I love them. She's my only non Australian parrot. 🇦🇺

I have a couple of green cheeks for 3 years now. (Had a agapornidis before). They were a couple since birth and because of that reason they are very attached to each other and very protective. I watched tons of videos before getting these two but none of them warned me about these things as you did in this video. I feel like people should be aware of these things before getting a gc! Even though I love them a lot, they are such a mess :’) I have a separate bird room since October. It helps a bit to make sure they don’t do dangerous things in my house and they are more calm. I provide them with all these toys and they are really not into anything. In the beginning they used to explore more but now they really don’t care about toys. They are very much interested in ruining things that are not made for birds tho 😂. I have ocd and it really is getting to me sometimes! Long story short: I love them to death but it’s a big difference with my little cuddly lovebird!
